On to different Planets
This is my entry to the Beginners Circle Jam #3. I didn't get to balance the gameplay too much so far. If you have good and fun ideas of planetary quests, leave a comment and I will maybe add it to the game.
You are a space-ship that was caught in a spacial anomaly and was transported to a random spot in the universe. Your warp engine is broken and needs to be repaired in order for you to get home. Travel to different planets collect and balance your resources to repair your warp engine and warp-jump back home. Good luck :)
Use the arrow-keys to move. [w] to open warp engine menu. [e] to explore planets.
The universe is persistent, so if you play the same seed and visit the same locations, you will have the same encounters. The universe is pretty big though, so the chance of that happening is pretty slim ;)
The HUD shows the following:
- Energy ... blue: Is needed for the ship to move. Once energy runs out, the ship will be stranded and your run will be over.
- Crew ... grey: The crew is needed to run the ship. If you run out of crew-members you are done and the game will be over.
- Resolve ... orange: The crews resolve. Throughout the journey the crew will lose resolve. When the crew has 0 resolve left, there will be a mutiny and your journey is over.
- Resources ... green: Food, oxygen, technological equipment etc. This resource will be used up over time at a rate depending on the number of crew on the ship. It can also be used for other things (e.g. repairs of your warp-core). If you run out of resources, the crew will start to starve (resolve is lost at a higher rate and crew-members are gonna die).
- (x, y)-coordinate of your current position in the universe

Nice idea, the game is definitely visually pleasing and had a very nice parallax effect. And well done with the randomization as well, I've tried doing randomly generated games in the past and they are not always easy to get working properly.
Glad to hear you liked the visuals :) ... That was one of the parts that consumed the most time for this project.
Great little game, congrats on getting the randomization algorithm to work. Reminded me of FTL, and I liked the nice sci-fi jargon thrown around too.
Also bug free, much better than I can say for my own game.
The only criticism I can really think of is the font you chose is sometimes a little hard to read, but then again I have dyslexia so it might not be an issue others have with the font.
Nah, I think you are right, the font is not super easy on the eyes. I just was getting tired of searching for the perfect font (I wanted something scifiy) ... particularly considering the time constraints of a jam game.
Should I continue on this project, finding a better font is definitely on the todo list.

Honestly I was in the same boat with looking for fonts, I never knew it would be so hard to find a decent one.
Very nice sprites! The idea is also captivating. Would love to see how it evolves.

This page is very bland. try throwing in some colors, or images of planets in space. also please make it downloadable.
Good point, I added a banner and some bg-colors from the same pallet as the game-assets.
That improved it alot! what about the downloads?
I might add some downloadable builds later on, after the jam is done :)
